IS HOT– Dick Clark, Canner fire baller,
won his twelfth win of the season Sunday by defeating the Pennington
Gap Miners by the score of 5 to 1. The Miners hit safely but 3 times
and Sports Writers of Pennington Gap said that “Clark is Hot”.

Dick led the league that season with a 20-9 record, and was a member of
the league's all-star team. The picture above right is a blowup from
the team picture below.
This is a midseason picture of the 1948 Newport
