city is supplied as a clue, as well as the state the city is in. The cities are
ranked by population.

The source for populations is the 2001 on-line edition of the
U.S. Census Bureau’s
“Statistical Abstract of the United States”, from table
31 of the
population tables. Note that a city’s population includes its
whole metropolitan area, which often includes people living in more than
one state.
