Solve these interactively

The Puzzle

Print the sixteen numbered tiles onto a transparency sheet and cut them out. Then arrange them over the letter grid, so that the circles reveal a verse from a familiar Christmas carol. The correct answer has exactly four circles in each column.

Solution (don't look if you don't want to see the solution!)

Instructions

1. The goal is to arrange the tiles over the grid, so that any circled letters, when read from left-to-right and top-to-bottom, will spell out a message.
2. You will need to turn and flip many of the tiles, but you will not need to overlap them.
3. Each column will have the same number of circles.
4. Each row will have a varying number of circles, as indicated by the letter blanks to the right of the puzzle.
5. Words are not split across rows, so the letter blanks provide the length of each word.
Sample Puzzle

Use tiles 1, 2, 3 and 4 to solve this mini puzzle. The correct answer, a short verse from a carol, has four circles in the top row, three in the middle row, and five on the bottom row. It has one circle in each column.

Solution (don't look if you don't want to see the solution!)

Warmup Puzzle

Use tile numbers 5 through 12 to reveal another verse from a Christmas carol. The correct answer has two circles in each column.
