Since each symbol only occurs twice among all the cards, any solution can be described by the series of matching symbols.

There are many solutions to the first challenge; here’s one:
     Snowman — Christmas Lights — Sleigh — Chimney

There are two basic solutions to the second challenge:
     Santa Claus — Ornament — Nutcracker — Candy Cane — Snowman
     Reindeer — Gingerbread Man — Gifts — Sleigh — Christmas Tree
Note that either of those two solutions can be reversed to produce another solution, and that cyclic shifts can also be used.
